1973 Hiwatt DR103 100 Watt Guitar Amplifier Head and SE4123 4×12″ Fane-Loaded Speaker Cabinet
Perhaps one of, if not the Holy Grail of 1970’s British guitar amplifiers: this is a 1973 Hiwatt DR103 100-watt head paired with a Hiwatt SE4123 4×12″ cabinet with Fane speakers. Original Hiwatts were famously used by players like David Gilmour and Pete Townshend for their tank-like construction and a sound that can go from crystal clean precision to crushingly loud overdriven power chords.
This DR103 is super clean with no major markings or and rips to the tolex. There are no loose pots, and all connections work as they should. A previous owner had marked their favorite settings on the control panel in what looks and feels like white-out. The cabinet has some light wear to the tolex with a bit of a sticky caster wheel, and what looks like a tolex rip being held together by black tape on the front top left of the cab. This half stack is not for the faint of heart, nor anyone concerned about hiding any of their playing…this amp pushes everything to the forefront, and rightfully so!
