1999 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul 40th Anniversary Tom Murphy Painted and Aged
If you’re looking for a rare, knockout Les Paul this could be it! It’s already a rare 1999 Gibson Custom Shop 40th Anniversary 1959 Les Paul – but it’s a Tom Murphy Aged and Painted Les Paul at that with the paperwork to go with it! The guitar has a stunning sunburst over an outstanding flame top with tons of thick figuring and depth to it.
A previous owner installed a set of highly regarded Wizz humbuckers in the guitar as well as what appear to be an older pair of Bumblebee caps. The original parts are not included with the guitar. On top of the Murphy aging, it’s easy to see that the guitar was well-loved and definitely saw some stage time with fading in the cherry finish on the neck, added bucklerash and worming on the back, and some added dings on the headstock. We can’t blame whoever wanted to take this one out, it’s a great player. The original case is included as well as two COAs: one from Gibson and one from Tom Murphys Guitar Preservation company stating he in fact painted this specific serial number.
