Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V Murphy Lab Aged Ebony
This is the Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V from the Gibson Custom Shop, a hand-made and aged limited edition guitar with only 200 produced worldwide. This one is #149. Aged by the Murphy Lab, the Hammett ’79 V recreates one of Heavy Metals most important guitars: the original ’79 was bought by Kirk Hammett in the early days of Metallica and used on all of their early records: Kill ‘Em All, Ride The Lighting, Master of Puppets…all the way up to The Black Album.
The Gibson Custom Shop recreation is true to the original with a 3-piece mahogany neck with volute, pearloid dot inlays, Schaller tuners, two T-Type humbuckers and a custom-recreated adjustable bridge that was just like the one on the original V.
Completing the package is a custom case adorned with ID tags and labeled tape as the original guitar likely is stored as at Metallica HQ. Each Kirk Hammett Flying V includes a COA signed by Kirk Hammett, Gibson Custom Shop swag, and a custom enamel pin set.
